From concept to installation, every piece tells a story
Every Ethnicloom project is shaped by a deep sensitivity to context—the needs of the client, the character of the space, and the story the weaves will tell. Under the creative direction of Elif Gönensay, an experienced curator and archivist of Anatolian weaves, the process balances tradition with specificity.
Her trusted network of artisans, suppliers, and weavers across the region enables the sourcing of rare and meaningful pieces that are both aesthetically refined and culturally authentic.
This process is more than interior styling—it is a form of material storytelling, rooted in organic textures, ancestral knowledge, and a biophilic understanding of space. Each weave is not only a tactile object, but a vessel of symbolic meaning, drawing on the cosmology and spiritual language of Anatolian and nomadic traditions.

Each project begins with a close dialogue with the client to understand their vision, aesthetic preferences, and functional needs. Ethnicloom also surveys the spatial context of the site to grasp light, color, proportion, and atmosphere.

A visual concept is developed through mood boards, drawing on cultural references, materials, color palettes, and compositions. These guide the design language and tone of the project.

Samples and storyboards are presented for tactile and visual engagement. Through collaborative refinement, the final kilims and weave items are chosen.

Each selected design is produced in close collaboration with skilled weavers using traditional looms and natural materials. Elif Gönensay oversees this process with care, ensuring alignment between concept and craftsmanship.

Weaves and kilims are then rendered in situ through visualization tools or test installations as trial mock-ups. This allows for final adjustments to scale, balance, and composition before execution.

Ethnicloom manages delivery and expert installation, ensuring pieces are not merely placed but meaningfully embedded within the environment.

From Ethnicloom's extensive archive of vintage weaves, in-stock collections, and digital design catalog, textiles are carefully selected or sourced from trusted suppliers across the region.

Upon request, Ethnicloom offers additional design services, including custom cloth home textiles, accessories, and furnishings, harmonized with the overall concept.
Quality control is hands-on and empathetic, with attention to texture, color, and symbolic intent—honoring both artisan expertise and the integrity of the final piece. Elif Gönensay personally oversees this process, ensuring that every weave meets the highest standards of craftsmanship and cultural authenticity.
Whether drawing from Ethnicloom's in-house archive, current collections, or custom-producing new works through regional ateliers, Elif ensures that each weave is carefully chosen to resonate with the space—and with the people who inhabit it.
